spring, spring, where are you?

it's february now. i hate february. it's still cold! when will spring finally come and melt away the ice?

i've had a surprisingly fun week of february so far, despite my vendetta against the month. friday night was one of the surprise nights out. it started out with having a drink at home with my neighbor, who i now consider my older brother while i'm in korea. then we went out, still planning on a quiet night. after running into some other friends, the early hours of the morning were soon calling me to sleep. i love those random nights.

saturday was much more planned, even though we struggle with directions to the club. we went to a place called monkey beach, which tries to capture the spirit of the full moon party on koh phangan. they have fun lights but no sand. free shots but no fluorescent paint. tables and poles to dance on but no ocean to swim in. they have the buckets but no amphetimine-laden red bull (you wonder why thai people smile so much? speed in the energy drinks might just be the answer...). you don't even have to haggle with the bartender! the buckets were a lot tastier than many that i had on the islands. of course, i miss the islands, but i feel like i have found a good replacement for when i need a beach rave in the middle of winter in korea. it was a perfect night of being silly with the girls.

i'm so lucky to have found such an amazing group of girlfriends here. what are we ever doing? we are having fun!

i also had a bit of good news today...my "lingering travelers" article will be published in march!
