south korea's got seoul
i'm getting ready to go to korea tomorrow. my passport came in this morning with a shiny new korean visa in it, and the school arranged for me to fly out in the morning. i cannot quite believe how quickly everything turned around, but i am glad that i had an extra week at home that i wasn't planning to have with the october 10th departure date. this week has been crazy. rebecca at the delta counter here in tallahassee is my new best friend. last saturday morning, i went to kentucky to my father's wedding. for a hughes family affair, it was drama-free. i love kentucky in the fall too. i had a perfect weekend there at the peak of leaf season. on sunday, i revisited my childhood at keeneland. unfortunately, i don't have the good luck i did as a little girl. none of the horses i bet on won. when i was younger, i managed to pick every winner one day. people were checking with a five-year-old in pantaloons to pick a horse. i still love kentucky. on wednesday, i went to atlanta to interview for my korean visa. the consular asked another girl in my group if she knew where korea was. i nearly choked stiffling my laughter. now, i am packing for yet another country. better brush up on my korea. so far, i know the following: "hello," "i'm cute," "you're cute," "let's make some tea," and "i love you." i'm ready, right?
